All is quiet? I always find photos from wartime very sad and intense. The expression on the faces is so tired. Happy MM.

"The War to end all Wars". Who said that? Woody Wilson? Interesting somber take on the theme.

Happy Mute Monday!

Excellent take on the theme, Buzz. Like Boxer, I'm both fascinated and deeply disturbed by wartime photos.

Oh excellent theme. I agree with the fascination on those photos ... very interesting to study the faces and settings. Happy MM!

Thanks as always. The thing that really gets me about pictures from WW1 is that all of these men are gone. Whether they were killed in battle or lived to be 100+. All that's left are these pictures. And when I look at these pictures I wonder what they were thinking and how they came to be in a particlar photo. The minutes before and after in thi s period of time. Too deep? Well they move me.

I never think of WWI. I don't know why that is. When you look at these photos and then photos from the war in Iraq, eerily similar in many ways. I just got the shivers.

Sobering theme on the theme--but very Buzzl-like (uh, not the sobering, but the unique approach)

Can we make a case that WWI meant WWII would happen? Have heard that, but not studied it.

Happy MM!

Maybe because it happened over 90 years ago and everyone associated with that war is gone. It'll happen to WWII in a few years after the vetrans pass away.

Aunty

Absolutely. Germanny was in such bad economic shape after WWI that it made a guy like Obama, I mean Hitler, look good.
