MUTE MONDAY - GREENs

Beautiful. I'd love to just WALK some of those courses I can't afford to play. Troll Springs Country Club ( a drinking club with a golf problem) actually bestows "The Green Jacket" upon the Men's champion. And, like Augusta, Bobby Jones started it. And he played the Grand Opening Match (against Gene Sarazen).

Beautiful shots of the golf courses; I knew someone would do this. But the green jackets were unexpected. And I dearly love Carl, my favorite Greenskeeper.

nice way to go with Green and I'm always happy to see Bill Murray from Caddyshack ANYTIME. That movie was on a few weeks ago and I watched it just for him. Happy MM!

I imagine you may not see spring green for a while either! Happy MM!

Goodness, this makes me long for spring. LONG. (Although, we often encounter snow during spring play up here in the mountains). Good news is, golf is like happy hour; it's always being shown on television somewhere. Happy MM!

Good morning Buzz Kill,

You definitely need a lot of green to see any of that green.

Happy Mute Monday!

Nice! Greens, though, are why I don't play golf. Can't putt.

Happy Mute Monday!

All

I haven't golfed in quite a while but I'm itching to get back to it. Another year or 2 and my schedule should lighten up enough to get out there. Not these golf courses (although I have been to Harbour Town (the one with the light house) but did not play) because I don't have the money or skill. The Masters is coming up in about 6 weeks, so I threw in the green jackets. And, well, you know me and movies and these are all of the golf movies I could think of. Caddyshack is arguably one of the funniest movies ever made and the Carl scene at the ball wash always cracks me up - "I was unavoidably detained".

Well, perhaps I should have 'dressed' more for the part for replying?

(I often can' afford to play, so, I have a two hundred yard strip in the back of the property (easily seen from the google sat/cam) and, before that, I had two other free 'courses to play at...

Find the two tallest trees close together on the property, hang a painter's canvas as high as you can on it (still touching the ground)(that's the canvas touching the ground...) and wrap an old blanket around the bottom of both trees...as much to protect the tree as you should the ball hit either...
Free 'course' #2: empty farmland.
Bean fields work best as they are left fairly flat....

I worked at a golf course/driving range for a year and some, and during the winter months, when nobody was there or cared...I would hit balls around the range. In the windy freezing cold, dressed to the max...cold but happy!
One day, after a million strokes, and the seeds of doubt of me ever being any good at all, and after losing LORD KNOWS how many balls, I hit a ball with my six iron....a perfect strike, even against the wind...it picked up about twelve feet above the ground and sailed easily 150-200 yards against the wind...
I've been hooked ever since.
Then again, I had to replace my canvas last Summer, and sometimes the farmers around here look like they want to call the guys in white jackets on me....

That second photo is amazing! I used to bar tend in a private golf club in Sydney, it was a hoot and I used to torture the "pro" and the greenskeepers. haha!

Hey Buzzy, just FYI: I left you the suggestion to puree half of the soup after your bean soup post, you must not have seen it. I also left you stir fry directions, did you see those? Thanks!
