Movie Clip Wednesday - Best Use Of Alcohol

Boxer is hosting a Movie Clip Wednesday Meme where everyone picks a clip from their favorite movies based on a weekly theme. This week's theme is BEST USE OF ALCOHOL. I could have used my clip from last week of the Raiders of the Lost Ark bar scene (best use of whiskey) but thought that would be too lame (I was right wasn't I?) and I didn't want to go to the same well twice (get it, well, well drinks, alcohol - oooohhhh boy.).

I had a lot of other great scenes in mind too, unfortunately, I couldn't find videos. My first thought was a scene from one of Bill Murray's first movies - Where the Buffalo Roam (about the life of Hunter S. Thompson). This is a great movie if you've never seen it with numerous funny drug and alcohol scenes. Couldn't find anything.

Then I thought about Leaving Las Vegas which is all about alcohol. I wanted the Elizabeth Shue scene by the pool with the bottle of tequila (all the guys know what I'm talking about). Couldn't find anything.

Then, THEN I thought of Revenge of the Nerds. The original had the Greek Olympics with the belching contest and the Takahashi bike race. This was a franchise movie, surely there would be clips. I couldn't find anything that wasn't bastardized by someone.

I was about to quit when I thought of the movie that I have written about on numerous occasions and it's about alcohol - Bad Santa (the Billy Bob Thorton gem with the distinction of having the most F-words in a Christmas movie). Bingo, here it is (and probably 1/2 of the F-words in this movie are in this scene and I truly believe Thorton was really drunk):

A quick honorable mention goes to Dudley Moore in Arthur. I know I'll blogger jinx this but I laugh my ass off at this movie every time I see it (despite Liza Minnelli being in it) and Moore plays a really funny drunk back in the days when drunk driving was acceptable - ahh memories. This is my favorite line in the movie:

If you want to see more alcohol induced scenes of movie hilarity, than take a shot and head on over to Boxer's.

If loving Bad Santa is wrong, I don't want to be right.

I have to add Bad Santa to my DVD collection.

Happy MCW!

Add me to the list of people who think Bad Santa is a Holiday Classic. Bwahahahahahahah. I nearly went with this also and what is it with no good drinking scenes on YouTube. I thought this was going to be a slam dunk. I loved Arthur and think it's time to watch that again.

I need suggestions, so come back over when you have some?

I'se psychologically damaged now--thanks. I ever heard of much less seen thois movie, but now, Buzz, I jes' cain't see BBT as a smashed santa rather than as ole' Slingblade.

If I had thought of Arthur, I'd have posted it! Brilliant choice. I totally love that movie. I was doing my best to stay away from James Bond because I figured it was too predictable. Bad Santa though? Inspired move!

It's been banned over here because it contains content from Channel 5 apparently. Always loved our Dudley tho :)

Nothing wrong with that at all.
F me Santa! F me Santa!

If you liked the clip, you won't be dissapointed.

Boxer
I'll bet I spent an hour searching for different clips that I wanted. Arthur was my plan B from the start and I was hoping not to use it - but glad I did. And being that the Mrs let me take my 10 YO son to see it, I have no problem adding Bad Santa to my holiday list.

Aunty
Sorry for the years of therapy. You need a sick sense of humor to really appreciate how funny this movie is. I have a problem equating BBT to Slingblade because he altered his appearance so much.

Pam/Karl
The really big woman line is the absolute best. I crack up every time I hear it.

Joanna
I'm not sure what channel 5 is, but Bad Santa is a pretty vulgar movie. I can see why it would be banned - except in my house apparently.

Troll
Tony Cox plays the dwarf and he is funny. I particularly like that he wears white Mr. Spock ears. You'd like this movie.

Bad Santa IS a classic!
I agree that Thornton was drunk in this scene.
Actually, I think he may have been for the majority of the movie.

Love your runner up too!
Arthur is probably one of the funniest drunk movies ever!

Excellent choices!

HELP!!

( 'scuse me BuzzK fer usin' yore place fer qa shout-out)

Figgered out that those folks wif' pop-up comment windows is whar' I cain't leave a comment. Ain't shure hwat I'se changed but suddenly it won't let me comment.

How do I fix it? I adjusted the pop-up blocker thang, but it still won't let me leave posts for Boxer or Troll or Chickory.

What is I doin' wrong? Anybody?

I wouldn't pick bad movies, would I?

Aunty
Glad you worked out your technical difficulties because I had nothing on this.
