Movie Clip Wednesday - Favorite Foreign Actor

In light of the fact that we still have a Boxer's Rebellion still going on (I kid), our hostess is still unavailable to assume her duties (he said, "doody") . So Milk River Madman continues hosting the Movie Clip Wednesday Meme where everyone picks a clip from their favorite movies based on a weekly theme and tries to keep the clip or clips to around 3 minutes long. This week's theme is FAVORITE FOREIGN ACTOR. I immediately thought of British actors like Sean Connery, Kevin Branagh or Clive Owen, but that would be too easy. Then I thought about some European actors like Antonio Banderas or Javier Bardem. Good but not really favorites. Aussie Mel Gibson? Good movies but a total whack job (he's doing Hangover 2 for Christ sake).

No, my favorite "foreign" actor is on this side of the pond. And that would be Canadian - Mike Meyers. From Wayne's World to Austin Powers to Shrek, this guy makes me laugh. He'll probably never get an Academy Award, but he's one of the funniest film stars out there. And you could make an argument that Austin Powers makes him British, but that would be a stretch.

One of his more under-rated movies and where we first heard the beginnings of the voice that would be Shrek was 1993's So I Married an Axe Murderer. I love every scene that features Stuart MacKenzie. Here are 3 short clips.

The Pentavirate.

Head! Move!

We have a piper down!

For more favorite foreign actors (not actresses), go on over and see the Madman . He put the "grrrr" in swinger, baby! Yeah!

Good Choice. when i think of all the characters he plays in the austin powers series - you recognize what a great talent he is. of course as "wayne" he is exactly the boy next door to me. and then there is shrek. how could that have worked without him to fill that big loveable green ogre with life? hes a good actor, great writer and all around entertaining guy. Happy MCW!

I played this week too. my entry is here

He is a genius. Loved him on SNL. Show quit being funny after he left. "And now my Schprockets, we dance!!" I forgot he was Canadian. Happy MCW. BTW, I think you'll like next week's theme. Then again, maybe not.hahahaha

Man oh man, what a fantastic choice. I know a few people who are cult-followers of So I Married an Axe Murderer. I can't think of anything he has done that I didn't just love. Austin Powers? OMG, you should have seen me and Kymmie falling into the floor of the theater laughing while our own Brit was NOT getting the humor. Excuse me, humour. And speaking of humor, let me just add that "Boxer Rebellion" made me laugh out loud.

Good morning Buzz Kill,

Those clips were the best laugh I've had all day. Actually they're the only laughs I've at all day, which makes them even better.

Enjoy your clip day!

The Austin Powers trilogy are some of the few movies I can watch with the kids. I'm trying to get then to put So I Married an Axe Murderer in the Netflix que - but I don't think they're listening to me.

Princess
SIMaAM is really only funny because of the Stuart MacKenzie character.

Moi
The way he torments "Heed" gets me laughing every time.

Madman
I forgot about Dieter Sprocket. I saw next weeks theme and I have it picked out already.

Pam
He did have some stinkers - The Love Guru and The Cat in the Hat come to mind. I don't know where Boxer Rebellion came from. And I was only kidding. She doesn't come to visit my blog anymore. :(

Karl
Keeping you laughing is my sole purpose in life. And getting you to watch color movies.
