That Movie Clip Wednesday dog torturer, Boxer is way too busy dragging her poor dog through the mud to return as hostess. So it's the Milk River Madman that continues to take up the mantle that is MCW, the Meme where everyone picks a clip from their favorite movies based on a weekly theme and tries to keep the clip or clips to around 3 minutes long. This week's theme is FAVORITE BRITISH COMEDY. Well, apparently Moi picked this category and I've gotta tell you, it's a tough one for me. Joanna Cake and Roses should have no trouble with this. But for us Americans (well, me anyway) British humor is mainly Monty Python, Peter Sellers and Mr. Bean (and I hate Mr. Bean). And we've kind of done those to death.
There is, however, a relatively new (again, for me anyway) British upstart who I like a lot. Simon Pegg's big claim to fame is 2004's Shaun of the Dead, which is truly hysterical and that I've posted on before. He did another film in 2007 called Hot Fuzz which I also found pretty funny. It co-stars Nick Frost (Ed from SotD) who is Pegg's buddy, who has appeared in several of his films and is John C. Reilly funny as the classic sidekick. So here you go:
I love this scene:
Head on over to the Madman's and see what Python, Sellers and Mr. Bean flicks he has going on this week. Next weeks theme - Favorite Middle Eastern Hygiene Movies. What? (I sure hope I'm kidding).

Yes, yes, yes! Hot Fuzz was great! Simon Pegg is great! I'm all exclamatory today because it's minus eleven with a wind chill dropping that another couple dozen degrees, and if I go outside I will DIE!
Enjoy your day.
I guess I need to see this.
Good morning Buzz Kill,
Those were funny, I laughed out loud at the fence scene. Years ago, I had an instructor whose Cockney accent was so thick we could never understand anything he said. One of the guys in the class heard him singing along with the radio and could understand everything he said. From then on we would yell "Sing it Al" whenever we couldn't understanding him.
Hope you're enjoying the rain.
I hate Mr. Bean too. I have no idea why people think they are funny, much less watchable.
I forgot about HOT FUZZ. That was a funny movie.
RUN FAT BOY RUN was also good, have you seen that?
"What year?"
"EVERY year."
Hilarious. Hot Fuzz was awesome.
Oooh! I might have picked Hot Fuzz if I had remembered it also! Love this movie! And let me tell you, those accents can be just like that! There's a guy in town who has lived here since 1957 and still talks just like Man #2 in that scene. Nobody can understand a word he says. Doesn't help that he's drunk most of the time and missing most his teeth. Anyway, last trip over to see "mum", we found ourselves in the town where this movie was filmed, so we made our way over to the Somerfield's grocery and took pics, also of the church used in the scenes of the garden fair. LOVE this movie. Simon Pegg is genius.
Hot Fuzz is good - as is Simon Pegg and for modern British comedy, he does seem to have cornered the market (as well as making a cracking Scottie in the most recent Star Trek.
Mr Bean was great in its original 30 minute television slot. It's another of those hugely successful programmes that just didnt quite make it on the big screen.
Moi
I'm glad my movie selection warmed you up. Don't die!

If you've never seen a Simon Pegg movie, Shaun of the Dead is probably the one to start with. Hot Fuzz is my #2 Pegg movie.
Karl
Kind of like Mel Tillis or Ozzy Osbourne. You can only understand them when they sing.
Boxer
I've only seen parts of Run Fat Boy Run. My kids love the movie, especially the part where they pop the blister (I saw that).
Madman
PI Staker. Bwahahaha

Sorry for the delay but I had to cut my response short because of a minor emergency (we had a special Eagle Project Review Meeting that I didn't know I was driving to).
Pam
The interpreter scene is the funniest thing in the movie. It's such a simple premise but Pegg and his facial expression make it hysterical.
Joanna
I did not know Pegg was in Star Trek (haven't seen it yet). I always saw Mr Bean as a poor man's Benny Hill. And Benny Hill was like a baudy 3 stooges.
All (again)
I found it interesting that no one blogger jinxed on what I thought was a limited theme. Just shows how everyones background in movies are so varied.
Good morning Buzz Kill,
