Ugh. The 80's were truly a terrible decade. I still have the pictures of me with a perm and padded shoulders to prove it. You were in S.F for the earthquake? Mt.St.Helens is in my world and that a freaky/scary thing. I like your dim dum Sunday too!

Happy Mute Monday.

My second idea was Mt. St. Helens and the spectacular sunsets all that ash caused in Troll County. The 80s rocked.

Happy Mute Monday!

Ha! We chose at least one the same, should have figured! If Flock of Seagulls had crossed my mind, they would have been in my post. And Thompson Twins! How did I forget them? I'm sorry, I love that music and don't consider it a disaster. The space shuttle? OMG. Do I have a story about that day. My good friend had me babysitting her daughter so she could go out of town on a ***rendezvous***. I was so appalled that she could even think about such a thing, let alone act on it, on the day of such a national tragedy.

I can't quite hate on the Eighties. In fact, it was probably one of my favorite decades, as giddy/silly as it was. Mt. St. Helens was freaky – we woke to grey dust all over everything outside the day after, and we're all the way down here in New Mexico. Happy Mute Monday!

Good morning Buzz Kill,

That's quite a depiction of disasters. Do the musicians count as natural disasters?

I'm guessing you weren't in the pancake between two decks. At least I hope not.

Happy MM

some of these made me laugh out loud, while others made me feel bad for laughing at all.

Gerat as always. Happy MM.

I'm thinking the man made disasters are worse.

Yeah, I got in to San Francisco the afternoon of the quake. My 1st and only one. I would sware I saw a wave like the ocean in the ground I was standing on. I have so many stories and things I saw but that's for another time.

Troll
I like a lot of the music that came out on the 80s - just not these bands.

K9
I got go whith George Michaels. Wake me up before you go go... *shudder*

Pam
I remember watching it live on TV and I couldn't fathom what I had just seen. Then the news anchor started saying something about it not being right, then it clicked in my head what happen. To that point, we were just so use to seeing the rocket go up perfectly. Sad.

Moi
Don't get me wrong, I liked the 80s, just not what I have pictured above.

Karl
I count these groups as man-made disasters. Especially Milli Vanilli. That's the group I had in mind all along when I started this mute. They were a complete fabrication - by man and we all know how that turned out.

I was in Oakland at the time but we had driven over that strech of the Nimitz Freeway earlier in the day. A Cavy Chief I knew told me weeks later that he saw the freeway colapse in the rearview mirror of his motorcycle. Lucky guy.

Kym
No, I think they're all mostly sad.

Fishy
Agreed, because they were all preventable. Even the bands.

Mermaid
1st time out and you got me. Fishy will tell you thats hard to do because I don't think like most people. The Mrs will agree.

Of all the MM I saw today, I think Fishy, Boxer, Karl and K9 definitely had the out-of-the-box ones today.
