Popular Hollywood theme. Always thought Redford was too old and unathletic for that role.

Happy Mute Monday!

no blog jinx for me, but I'm for the Phillies too. Actually, I'd be for ANYONE against the Yankees. Great pick and happy Mute Monday!

I like Phillies but can't root against the Yankees. Old family tradition. And remember, there's NO CRYING IN BASEBALL!!!!

Buzz,
What ..... where is the movie with Dennis Quaid as the wannabe pitcher? The one with the son clinging to the chain links saying " Bring the heat Dad?" The one where he cannot try out until he changes his daughter's diaper? The one that is based on a true story? I loved Field of Dreaams, adored how it is narrated by Costner and find the parallels to some biblical stories well told. I do like some baseball movies, but I don't actually enjoy watching baseball games. Classic subject indeed! Nice job :-)

you know i kind of wish baseball would end in the summer. it goes on way too long all up on football. or, get rid of basketball all together and spread it out. happy MM!!

Baseball movies remain one of my favorite genres ever. Sometimes, the spousal unit and I can go an entire day speaking to each other entirely in dialogue from A League of Their Own. Happy MM!

Yeah, I agree but (and at the risk of sounding sexist) it was the only way Hollywood could get women to watch a baseball movie.

After last night's it's not looking good for the Phils and I will have to ammend my prediction to the Phils in 7.

Aunty
My sentiments exactly.

Kym
Even though they haven't won a world series since 2000 they're still the evil empire and the only thing that would be sweeter for the Phils then beating the Yanks would be to beat the Mets.

Fishy
You're thinking of The Rookie (2002) but that movie was a little too touchie/feelie for me to include here. Costner is a big baseball fan and ahs probably made more baseball themed movies than most actors.

K9
Agreed. These late night games (to work around football schedules) are killing me. And here we are in November still playing. It's a good thing that the Phils beat Colorado or they'd be playing in snow boots.

Moi
A League of thei Own is a great movie and I almost always tear up at the end during the Hall of Fame scene. Tom Hanks was hysterical.

Karl
Thanks, I think they'll win tonight with Cliff Lee on the hill but after that, they'll need some luck.
