Movie Clip Wednesday - Favorite Foreign Actress

The Materfamilias of Movie Clip Wednesday, Boxer is now busying herself with hosting what promises to be the wackiest New Years Eve Party of the blogosphere. So it's the Milk River Madman that continues to take up the mantle that is MCW, the Meme where everyone picks a clip from their favorite movies based on a weekly theme and tries to keep the clip or clips to around 3 minutes long. This week's theme is FAVORITE FOREIGN ACTRESS. After thinking (drinking?) on this, there is only one foreign actress that does it for me, that Mexican hottie - Salma Hayek. The role I really liked her in (and so did the Academy because she was nominated for Best Actress) was Frida Kahlo in 2002's Frida. The best part of the movie? This tango sequence with Ashley Judd. And who else could make a unibrow looped pigtail hair thingy look sexy?

The first role I ever remember seeing Salma in? Two words - Satanico Pandemonium! in 1996's From Dusk Till Dawn. Best dance sequence in a movie - EVER. I'll spare the woman folk that scene and instead show how Mistress Salma puts George Clooney in his place.

I think we're going to see some interesting choices over at the Madman's today - not to be missed.

My husband and I have an agreement. If he can ever get Salma Hayek to return his calls, well, who could blame him? I first saw her in Desperado, when she was fresh off the Telemundo circuit and hadn't done anything Hollyweird to her looks yet. She was stunning. Still is, but in a more crafted way.

Happy MCW!

loved Frida. she really was Frida -and it was HER project. you know, Madonna wanted that role...bad. she has some of Frida's paintings. the cult of Frida is very strong. it was a beautiful movie and the tango between her and ashley judd was hot. great choice!

She is hotter than doughnut grease that's for sure. Can't believe she fell for the ol' shoot down the chandelier and pierce your heart trick. Happy MCW.

Never seen any of her flicks.

Madonna wanted Frida? Why because she ruined Eva Perone so badly? Love Selma and loved Frida. Great pick.

and you're right, I'm planning/planning and remember this party needs GUESTS, so you only need to visit and comment because that means.... $$$$. And thanks for the comment about links, come back when you have time to see the firestorm of comments you created! :-)

Good afternoon Buzz Kill,

Don't be shocked, I've never heard of her.

That line from George Clooney is classic "No thanks I've already got a wife".

Happy clip day!

I almost used a Desperado clip. I wanted the scene where Banderas is walking down the street after the bar shootout and he comes upon Hayek. Couldn't find it.

Chicky
I didn't know that about Madonna. I could see maybe Jennifer Lopez but I think Hayek nailed it. I particularly liked the chemistry between her and Alfred Molina.

Madman
That was the big problem I had with From Dusk Till Dawn. The vampires were way too easy to kill. Hotter than donut grease, huh?

Troll
From Dusk Till Dawn is definitely worth seeing. Salma's dance scene is unforgettable.

Boxer
I was never able to get through Evita. Sorry I loaded up your comment section, but I wanted to know about linking. And now I think I do

Karl
What I said to Troll - good movie.

Pam
At least we didn't jinx this week.
