Movie Clip Wednesday - Best Death Scene

Boxer is hosting a Movie Clip Wednesday Meme where everyone picks a clip from their favorite movies based on a weekly theme. This week's theme is BEST DEATH SCENE. So I'm thinking about a cool or classy death scene. And for whatever reason (who knows how my mind works) I thought of the Marv electric chair scene from Sin City. This was actually an under-rated cult type movie that I liked a lot. And in the electric chair scene Marv (played by an always scary Mickey Rourke) actually taunts the executioners, which I thought was both funny and cool at the same time. Unfortunately I couldn't find an original clip.

So on to Plan "B". I'm risking blogger jinx with Boxer because we talked about this movie last week, but what the hell. This has my favorite actor dying in an extremely heroic, unselfish, very cool and bad ass manner. "It was a good death" - borrowed from Legends of the Fall. I'm talking about Gran Torino. This was a surprise ending for me but very cool, as only Clint could pull off.

Spoiler Alert: If you haven't seen this movie and intend to do so, do not watch this clip. You'll hate me. Also, I could not embed the clip, so you're going to YouTube.

In the same vein as Walt Kowalski's death, honorable mention goes to Harry Stamper in Armageddon (relax, I'm not going to force you to watch it). That's the way I'm going out. Yeah, right. The Mrs and the monsters will cause me to vapor lock before I reach 51.

If you want to see more deaths (presumably violent and gory but there's a big potential for chick flick deaths here - What?) than head on over to Boxer's.

Buzz: i LOVED Gran Torino. most excellent choice, this movie quickly jumped to one of my all time favorites. I love Clint. I think I own 90% of his filmography. (including the ones he's directed.) It's his early, early stuff that is hard to get my hands on. Fantastic entry. Happy MCW.

No blogger jinx, just blogger applaud. Great pick, great movie. What a good way to go; with honor.

I could picked dozens from any of the Godfather's too. Sonny at the Toll Booth was my number one.

I didn't watch it because I haven't seen Gran Torino yet. but happy MCW!

I love love LOVE this movie. It was so not what we expected when we watched in pay-per-view fairly recently. Clint is one of the coolest of the cool. And yay that we did not blog jinx this week (I dug deep for something obscure) ... but that Sonny at the Toll Booth? Now that's some death scene. I can conjure it up even now in my head.

BTW, a good theme for MCW would be "sacrficie" much like the scene in this film.

Oh yeah ... Clint is awesome is he not?!
The Marv scene was fantastic as well ... too bad there wasn't a clip.

I cant watch it or read any of the comments because Grand Torino is queued on my list at LoveFilm! Let's just say that I love Clint almost as much as I love Shatner. Another formative crush :)

How could I have forgotten this one? Dang it. Had I remembered just how freakin' AWESOME this movie is, we would have blog jinxed and I would not have been such a brat with my choice. Happy MCM!

All
I'll be around tonight to view your entries.

Kym
Clint is my all time favorite actor. Badder than Chuck Norris. With Encore and SHO and all those other stations, I can pretty much catch a Clint move any time I want.

Boxer
Glad you like. I thought about Sonny in the toll booth and Paulie in the car (leave the gun, take the cannolis) and also the final scene from Bonnie and Clyde.

Troll
That's why I put the spoiler alert up. You of all people should see this movie - trust me on this one.

Pam
I guess you and Kym share the same Clint obsession. Sacrifice would be an interesting theme.

Scarlet
I love the Marv scene and would have actually gone with it over Clint. All I could find was the whole Marv story vignette that ran almost 10 minutes and that was just too long.

Cake
I think you'll be glad you waited. And I'm surprised you didn't go with the Spock Death Scene from The Wrath of Kahn.

Savannah
Glad you liked.

Moi
I don't know, maybe youe were snow blind. I'll have to see your choice bratty tonight.

I think EVERYONE that saw it loved Gran Torino. The end certainly took Heff by surprise.

Agree, this is a really good movie and way funnier than I'll admit too.

Karl
Yeah, because it's still a pretty new movie, i didn't want to ruin it for people. Definitely see this movie.
