Movie Clip Wednesday - Favorite Animated Movie

Boxer is hosting a Movie Clip Wednesday Meme where everyone picks a clip from their favorite movies based on a weekly theme. This week's theme is FAVORITE ANIMATED MOVIE. For about the last 10 years pretty much the only flicks I see in the theater are animated movies - because of the kids. Most are OK but let's face it - they're cartoons. The last one I went to see was Up and that was pretty good, although mushy.

I've seen all of the Disney classics and have always liked Snow White and Fantasia. When the Boy was around 2 years old, he totally ruined Pinocchio for me. That was his favorite at the time and I can't count how many 2:00 AM viewings I had to sit through when he wouldn't sleep. Consequently, I don't like Pinocchio anymore.

For kicks I was going to pick the 1975 classic, Tarzan, Shame of the Jungle. I actually saw this in the theater when I was 17 and it's basically soft core cartoon porn. It was horrible but semi controversial at the time. No, for this theme, I decided to risk blogger jinx with practically everyone and go with the funniest Dreamworks classic in recent years - Shrek. I think this movie is hysterical and Mike Meyers (with his Scottish accent resurrected from So I Married an Axe Murderer - a very underrated movie) is genius in this. This is some of the best animation I've ever seen. The perspective angles and details in the foreground and background are excellent. You can see all of that in the clip I've included - the "wrestling" scene for your enjoyment.

I could not embed the clip, so you're going to YouTube.

Here's a quick, added bonus track from Shrek that I always laugh at, I guess because it reminds me of Disney World. Is that wrong?

And my favorite line from this movie is:

Donkey, two things okay? Shut... up. I use that on the kids all the time.

If you want to see more funny cartoons, than head on over to Boxer's.

you nearly blog jinxed me with SHREK, which I did enjoy despite myself. This whole embed thing is annoying. I would have given you big points for the soft porn, but in the end appreciate the direction you went in. Eddie Murphy was funny on SNL and Shrek. Everything else (except for Trading Places) was crap.

Good pick and Happy MCW.

Good morning Buzz Kill,

What a waste good ale.

Happy Clip Day

At least Boxer gave Eddie Murphy credit for Trading Places.

Sorry, Heff watches very few animated movies.

Hey, do you remember the movie Fritz the Cat? I almost considered posting a clip from it. My first x-rated movie.

Meanwhile, I almost missed the whole Shrek thing because my kid (the Kymster) had the nerve to grow up and I lost my movie companion when she was too cool to be seen at the theater with mom. I still haven't seen the Shrek movies properly.

Mike Meyers is another genius.
He is so hilarious as this character.
I loved him in this almost as much as "So I married an Axe Murderer", which is one of my all time favorite comedies.

I find a decent clip and then - BAM - I see that it's embedded. Maybe it's some kind of copy right thing but it is annoying. I remember Shame of the Jungle being so bad that i didn't want any memmories of it, so I didn't even look. I didn't even like Eddie Murphy in Shrek. Trading Places and 48 Hours were good though.

Karl
Relax, it's only a cartoon. No actual ale was wasted in the making of this movie. Great scene isn't it?

Heff
I think this one you would like. It's realy well written in that you have to pay attention to the lines. It's a kid's movie with a lot of adult humor.

Pam
I have seen clips from Fritz but never the whole thing. I like my porn with humans (for the most part). Rent it and invite Kym over without telling her what it's about. You'll like it.

Scarlet
So I married an Axe Murderer is really under rated. The Steward McKenzie character is hysterical. HEAD - PANTS - NOW!

I think these are the 2 best animated films ever made. I never get tired of them. I see different things everytime I watch - more so with Shrek.
